How the Duchess of Cornwall reacted to Prince Charles' coronavirus diagnosis

Duchess of Cornwall

The Duchess of Cornwall received news earlier this week that her husband, Prince Charles, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Prince Charles became the first member of the British royal family to test positive for COVID-19, after he travelled to Scotland to self-isolate at the Balmoral estate.

Following his diagnosis, the Duchess of Cornwall is said to be feeling concerned for her husband, but ‘upbeat’.

A palace source told PEOPLE magazine, “Both of them remain in good spirits. There is a sense of keeping calm and carrying on.

“The duchess is concerned for him, but she is aware of his own good spirits and therefore is keeping a close eye on him and mindful of her own situation. She is upbeat.”

The duchess tested negative for the virus, and is now self-isolating away from her husband.

After concerns that the Prince of Wales could have given the virus to the Queen and Prince Philip, the Palace revealed the last time he saw Her Majesty was briefly after the investiture on the morning of 12th March.

Prince Philip was not at Buckingham Palace when Prince Charles last saw the Queen.

The news that Prince Charles had the disease was revealed on Wednesday morning.

The official statement read, ‘The Prince of Wales has tested positive for Coronavirus. He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.”

“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”
