Engagements are an intimate romantic moment between couples. While some choose to go big and bold for their engagement (and maybe go viral for it), couples like Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani chose to keep their's out of the public eye for a bit.

The couple has been keeping details on their wedding pretty private with only subtle hints to keep us on our toes. But in an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Gwen opened up about how the engagement went down, including why Blake wanted to keep news of their engagement under wraps.

When the couple first got engaged last October, Gwen actually appeared on Seth Meyers' show. In her most recent appearance on the late-night show, she revealed that she and Blake had been engaged, but the reason she didn't immediately share the news with the world was because Blake asked her not to.

"We got engaged about a week before that, and Blake was like, ‘Let’s not tell anyone. Let’s just make it ours for a minute,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, of course,’” she shared.

But, like any excited bride, Gwen couldn't wait to start spreading the news of their engagement.

“I was dying to tell everybody, you know what I mean? And I knew I was going to be on your show, and I felt really guilty actually. But look, look. There it is. There it is, guys,” she said as she put her engagement ring towards the camera.

A week later, the news was revealed, but for a moment, the couple was able to share their excitement together in secret.

“We were really excited to share it, and it was fun to kind of hold on to the secret for a week,” she added. “And then, finally, Blake was the one that was like, ‘Wait, when are you gonna tell people?’ I’m like, ‘You’re the one that said not to tell anyone!’”

As we anxiously await their big day, we can at least enjoy the little bits of information they do share, like the potential of Blake's friend and lead singer in Maroon 5 Adam Levine performing at their wedding.
