'Not as seedy as it sounds!' Victoria Beckham reveals the surprising place she and David had their first dates

David and Victoria Beckham are one of the most powerful and glamorous showbiz couples in the world, but their fairy-tale-like romance did not have fairy-tale beginnings. In fact, it started in car parks.

Victoria revealed the pair’s rather unexpected and unconventional first date location while appearing on the US talk show, Today with Jenna and Sheinelle. Discussing singer Olivia Rodrigo’s comments about how difficult dating can be when in the public eye, Victoria said, "I can totally relate."

"The advice that we were given was to just try and keep things under wraps. And actually, we had quite a few first dates in car parks." She was quick to add, "Not as seedy as it sounds".

"My mum would drop me off and I would get in David's car and we would just spend hours just talking just getting to know each other privately before anybody knew that we were dating. "

And from those humble car park beginnings, Victoria shared how the couple are to this day, with the fashion designer jokingly taking credit for David Beckham's pert backside.

When the conversation moved on to the trending topic of "glutemaxxing", Victoria joked with the hosts, "I have to say my husband has always had a great butt, but I am very happy to take the responsibility. I work out with him in the gym, make sure he's doing those squats for everybody out there."

She even shared one of the best exercises - pushbacks - and it might be worth adding to the workout plan.

Victoria and David have made it work, and her advice for other celebrities is "to find a really good car park."

It remains to be seen if the likes of Olivia Rodrigo will take up the advice, but it might be worth considering. Victoria and David have been married for 27 years, after all.

The pair were first romantically linked back in early 1997, when David was playing football for Manchester United and the-then Victoria Adams was best known to the world as Posh Spice.

Engaged in 1998, the pair would get married in July 1999 during a lavish ceremony at Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin.

The pair have welcomed four children, sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, and daughter Harper.

Writing for British Vogue, Victoria has described the romcom-worthy moment the two met, declaring it was love at first sight.

She wrote, "Love at first sight does exist. It will happen to you in the Manchester United players’ lounge - although you will get a little drunk, so exact details are hazy. While the other football players stand at the bar drinking with their mates, you will see David standing aside with his family.

"He has such a cute smile. You, too, are close to your family, and you will think how similar he feels to you. He’s going to ask for your number. (He still has the London-to-Manchester plane ticket on which you wrote it.)"
