Monty Don shares his emotional final goodbye message to Gardeners' World viewers after 23 years of presenting
The globally beloved gardener recorded his last episode and finished with a tearful farewell
Unfortunately, the time has come: Monty Don has finished his last ever episode presenting BBC's Gardeners' World and we, for one, are feeling rather emotional about it.
After hearing the news that beloved Monty was finishing his presenting on Gardeners' World this year, we were utterly heartbroken. For years now, he's been our go-to gardening guru for tomato pruning advice and taught us how to make the perfect bulb lasagne.
However, all good things must come to an end, and in fact they did with yesterday's episode, where Monty delivered his final goodbye, with Ned by his side.
After presenting the Gardeners' World episode with his usual charm and wisdom, Monty sat down with his companion, Ned, for the last time and spoke to his adoring viewers.
"Well, that's it for today and for this series, although we will be back with four special programmes celebrating winter between now and Christmas, and we've got some compilation programmes in the new year," Monty begins.
"And I will see you at Chelsea. But for myself, Ned, and Longmeadow, it's the final goodbye," he says.
We've been grateful not just for his seasonal lawn aeration methods and planting advice; Monty has shared his magical garden with us for years and introduced us to his beloved four-legged family members.

"I first began presenting Gardeners' World 23 years ago at Berryfields, and we came here to Longmeadow 16 years ago. And in that time, things have changed; the garden's grown, Nigel has been and gone, and Nellie and Patti," Monty reminisces.
"But there has been one constant factor, and that has been the incredible privilege and pleasure of sharing my garden and my gardening life with you here, as well as working with so many superb people," he adds.
"So thank you. Thank you for coming on that journey with me, and good luck with your own gardens in the future. So for the last time, bye-bye," finishes Monty.
Celebrities and Instagram users have flooded the comments of the @Gardenersworldtv Instagram reel with well wishes, thank yous and many a teary goodbye.
There's still much speculation about who will fill those very big, beloved shoes and be the lead presenter on the show. However, what is clear is just how much Monty will be missed by each and every viewer around the world.
