Why you can trust Woman & Home Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

The Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator – which is slightly wider than your standard bullet vibrator and comes with an adjustable finger strap – could be for you. That's because it's one of the best vibrators we've tried. We’ve put it through its paces from the moment it was unboxed so you can see if you think it’s worth the investment.

I tested a wide selection of vibrators and considered how they charged (if needed), the feel of them and how I’d feel if someone else saw it in my bag/house. All vibrators tested were used at least three times for varying lengths of time until they helped to achieve orgasm. Each vibrator was also switched on and off several times afterwards to check reliability.

Who does the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator suit?

Singles and couples; those who want clitoral stimulation and like to explore erogenous zones.

What is the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator like to use?

At first glance, the Hot Octopuss DiGit is like a typical bullet vibrator, but there is one big gimmick when it comes to using it.

At the base of the vibrator is an adjustable finger strap, which looks like two rings. Made from plastic, this felt quite uncomfortable on my fingers, so I would imagine this would be worse for someone with larger hands. However, the instructions show it can be worn anywhere along your fingers and still be effective.

The finger strap has been designed to help the Hot Octopuss DiGit feel like an extension of your or your partner’s own hand. It means your hands can guide the vibrator without the need for gripping on. So, this can work well if you have mobility issues in your fingers, although I found the action did cause some pain and cramping when used for longer periods.

Instructions are included, easy to follow and simple. The Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator comes fully charged and ready to use. To turn on, you simply press and hold the button on the side for two seconds. You do the same to turn off, although they do become less receptive when the battery is starting to run down. While using, to change the variations of the vibrations you need to repeatedly click on the power button until you find the one you like. You can change the speed with the “up” and “down” buttons on the other side. The buttons are small, but your other hand can reach them easily while in use.

The flared end makes this vibrator feel better value than a standard, tapered bullet, although it’s still too small to use for penetration. However, the choice of six vibrations and speeds give enough variation that things won’t get boring. Plus, it’s fully waterproof, so you can also use it in the bath and shower.

The Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator design

Easy to slip on and use, the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator is ideal to share with a partner who may be intimidated by some of the large and brightly coloured toys on the market.

The black and bronze (it’s almost rose gold) colour combination makes this vibrator look and feel very stylish. Plus, the silicone is ultra soft, so it really does feel like a quality buy when you put it next to your skin.

If the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator fell out of your handbag unexpectedly, most people would assume it was a perfume atomiser. However, it does come with a silky black pouch emblazoned with the company logo and words “reinventing pleasure” on the side, which would give the game away.

The wider, flared end of this vibrator makes it slightly more versatile than a standard bullet, although it’s still mainly suitable for clitoral use instead of penetration. This is because the length is still essentially the same as a bullet.

The finger straps are adjustable depending on who is using it, although this does mean they feel like they could snap off with rigorous use. For this price, I’d expect better quality, especially as the rest of the vibrator is so appealing.

At just 58g, the Digit won’t get too heavy when used for longer periods. Plus, the finger strap means if you did let go, you won’t drop it anyway.

The versatility of the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator

Essentially, the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator is for clitoral stimulation. However, the vibrator can also be used on other sensitive parts on the body during foreplay, such as nipples and other erogenous zones. It can be used solo or with a partner. With six vibration variations and adjustable speed settings, this can really pack a punch for such a small piece of kit.

The amount of noise the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator makes

While it’s relatively discrete, the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator boasts about its deep, rumbly vibrations on the box. Needless to say, the brand is not lying about its power, so this vibrator can make a fair bit of noise at times. Plus, as the finger strap is plastic, this creates quite a rattle, compared with the silicone shaft, if it touches another hard surface.

Battery use and charging the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator

Here’s where the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator loses some vital points. While it’s great that it comes pre-charged, so there is no waiting around to use it, the battery only lasts up to 40 minutes – and expect this to be less when you’re using it on a higher speed setting.

Charging is easy, as the vibrator comes with a USB adaptor, although the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator does take two hours until it’s ready to use again. And in a world when you can charge other things, such as your mobile phone, with lightning speed, this just feels too long to wait for pleasure.

If you lose your charger, you can buy a replacement on the Hot Octopuss website.

How does the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator rate online?

On the Hot Octopuss site, many users say they experienced powerful orgasms using the vibrator and praised it for being 100% waterproof.

Reviews for the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator elsewhere online are mixed, although reviewers like the sleek design and power of vibrations. However, most of the feedback focuses on the adjustable finger straps and how they feel too small and, ideally, should be removable, as they can get in the way.

Some reviewers also felt the buttons are tricky to use, as they dip inwards, while others prefer a more standard, tapered bullet shape.

Hot Octopuss also stocks a bullet vibrator called AMO, which doesn’t come with a finger strap and is slightly cheaper, which many reviewers preferred.

Is the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator worth buying?

When it comes to sex toys for women, buying something bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better. And, if you’ve only ever used your hand for masturbation before, then an extension of your finger is the perfect next step.

The stylish design and versatility mean the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator is something you will have in your collection for a long time. But for the gimmicky finger strap to really be worth the extra cost, ideally it wouldn’t have been made of such an uncomfortable-feeling plastic, as not only does this detract from the design, but it makes it uncomfortable to wear.

Free from any nasties, such as latex, and made with skin-safe silicone, you’re not likely to occur irritation from this toy – good news if you use it repeatedly.

While it might not be the only sex toy you have in your collection, and you may get bored charging it after each use, the Hot Octopuss DiGit vibrator is certainly one you would return to again and again.
