The Queen sends sweet message to Prince Philip as he remains in hospital following infection
Adorable!
The Queen has made a touching gesture to her husband of 75 years, Prince Philip, as she wore their engagement brooch during a video call on Friday.
- Prince Philip remains in hospital fighting an infection, although he is in “good spirits”
- The Queen addressed healthcare workers on Friday and wore the same brooch she wore for their engagement photographs in 1947
- It follows royal news that the Queen surprised Archie with this sweet Christmas gift
They’ve been married for nearly 75 years and it’s clear the Queen and Prince Philip still share a strong connection, despite sleeping in separate beds.
And now it’s emerged that the 94-year-old Monarch wore a sentimental brooch for a royal engagement on Friday, in what is being described as a touching gesture to her husband, days after it was revealed why the Queen has not visited him in hospital.
Eagle-eyed royal watchers noticed that the Queen paid subtle tribute to Prince Philip by wearing a diamond clematis silver brooch – the same one she wore in her official engagement photos with Prince Philip back in 1947.

Despite her husband’s extended stay at King Edward VII’s hospital, royal duties have carried on for the Queen and she joined healthcare workers on a video call on Friday.
In it, Her Majesty called on the public to “think about others” and come forward for their Covid-19 vaccinations.

Opening up about her own experience of the vaccination – of which she received the first dose in January – the Queen described the whole process as “harmless”.
“As far as I could make out it was quite harmless,” she said. “It was very quick, and I've had lots of letters from people who have been very surprised by how easy it was to get the vaccine. And the jab – it didn't hurt at all.”
Prince Philip was hospitalised two weeks ago, making it the Duke of Edinburgh’s longest-ever stay in hospital.
The 99-year-old was admitted as a “precautionary measure” and Buckingham Palace have since confirmed Prince Philip is “comfortable and responding to treatment”.
Prince Edward revealed he had spoken to his father on the phone, and that he was looking forward to getting out of hospital.
Speaking on Sky News, Prince Edward said, “As far as I’m aware – well, I did speak to him the other day – so, he‘s a lot better thank you very much indeed, and he‘s looking forward to getting out, which is the most positive thing.
“So we keep our fingers crossed.”
