When Princess Eugenie got married last Friday, all eyes were of course on the beautiful bride and her new husband, Jack Brooksbank.
But while all attention was on the happy newlyweds, we actually missed a very sweet outfit detail from the mother-of-the-bride, Sarah Ferguson.
Hello! magazine picked up on the fact that the Duchess of York paid tribute to her daughters Beatrice and Eugenie via her jewellery on the big day.
Sarah accessorised her outfit with some stunning gold items, including some lovely drop earrings and some delicate bracelets. And on the larger of the two bracelets, complete with diamond engraving, she had embossed the names of her girls, with one side reading ‘BEATRICE’ and the other, ‘EUGENIE’ – proving just how much they meant to her.
It was a poignant gesture on such a big day for her youngest daughter, and was surely much appreciated by the two York sisters.
But it’s not the first time the Duchess has worn the special piece of jewellery. She’s actually worn it many times before, but choosing to wear it on Eugenie’s wedding day is certainly a touching move.
Sarah Ferguson has also paid tribute to her girls via her outfit choices in the past. She’s stepped out many times with one of her favourite handbags, which has a picture of Beatrice and Eugenie as younger children on the front of it.
And she makes no secret about how proud she is of her daughters – regularly praising them on her social media.
The royals often choose to send subtle messages with their jewellery or clothing. Just recently, on her tour of Australia, the Duchess of Sussex showed her support for an important cause.
She opted to wear jeans from Aussie clothing brand Outland Demin, who support women who have been rescued from the sex trafficking trade.
And the day after announcing her pregnancy, she also wore items from Princess Diana’s personal jewellery collection – in a sweet tribute to the mother-in-law she never had a chance to meet.
