She may not be an official member of the royal family, but Sarah Ferguson still holds a very special place in the hearts of royal enthusiasts - as proven by her recent 59th birthday.
The Duchess of York was inundated with well-wishes and birthday cards from her loyal fanbase, which she chose to acknowledge in a way only Sarah could.
Instead of sending out traditional thank you cards, as members of the royal family tend to do to those who have been thoughtful enough to write to them on a special occasion, Sarah took a more unconventional route instead, and replied to her fans kind words using gift tags.
That’s right, Sarah sent out individual, personally signed gift tags.
Featuring a photo of some bright pink dianthus on one side and a sweet message and Fergie’s signature on the other, all tied together with a purple ribbon.
A photo of Sarah waving to the crowds outside St George’s Chapel in Windsor, from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May Royal Wedding, was also included in the gift pack.
Royal fan Jessica, 22, from Italy, who runs the Instagram account Royal Addicted, which shares updates on royals from all around the world, shared images of Fergie’s gift on her Instagram account on Wednesday.
The note read, “Thank you so much for your birthday greetings. It was kind of you to remember my birthday.
“I take great pleasure in sending you my best wishes.”
The ex-wife of Prince Andrew finished the note by simply signing it with ‘Sarah’.
Princess Beatrice and Eugenie’s mother also sent thanks to those who had congratulated Eugenie on her wedding to Jack Brooksbank last month.
Using the same photo that the couple had issued in their own thank you cards – the portrait of the newlyweds taken by photographer Alex Bramall in Windsor Castle’s White Drawing Room – Sarah Ferguson issued another sweet note.
Sarah wrote, “Thank you so much for your congratulations and warm wishes for the future happiness of Eugenie and Jack.
“Their wedding was the most fabulous day. Eugenie looked so beautiful and Jack so handsome; the wedding service was a wonderful celebration of their love.
“We are so happy to welcome Jack into our family, he is the most marvellous person and enriches Eugenie’s life. They are such a devoted couple.
“Thank you for your kindness and loyalty over the years.”
