Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales have treated royal fans to a look at Prince George’s Christmas painting. The portrait of a reindeer with two robins has delighted fans online, who have praised George’s talents. With his painting prowess, Prince George is taking after his grandfather, King Charles, who is an avid art lover himself.

Prince William and Kate Middleton have taken to their social media channels to share a Christmas painting done by Prince George.

The adorable painting is of a reindeer, with two robin redbreasts resting on his antlers. George also drew snowflakes falling on his adorable artwork.

The talented nine year old’s artwork has been well received by fans waking up on Christmas morning.

One art lover pointed out that George seems to have an eye for the subtle details, writing “Love the light of kindness in the reindeer’s eyes, the cute robins, & flying snowflakes…Such beautiful details! Thank you Prince George for your wonderful artwork!”

Another fan wrote, “Kid’s got talent. Very well done.”

George isn’t the only member of the Royal Family with an artist’s eye.

His grandfather, King Charles, was also a keen artist. It’s also said that Queen Victoria was a talented artist in her time, so this particular passion dates back generations.

Charles has had a lifelong passion for art and it’s said he was taught by some of Britain's finest masters. He is thought to favor watercolor and likes to paint outdoors.

In the self-effacing fashion the royals are famous for, Charles has played down his own abilities, describing himself as an "an enthusiastic amateur.” However, he has reportedly sold some of his works, giving him much more clout than just amateur status.

His mother, Catherine, is also a celebrated photographer, regularly sharing photos of the family she’s taken herself. Earlier this year she was also commissioned to photograph her mother-in-law, Queen Consort Camilla, for the cover of Country Life magazine.

Mark Hedges, editor-in-chief of Country Life magazine, said at the time, “We are thrilled to have our guest editor captured so magnificently by royal photographer the Duchess of Cambridge.”

“We understand this is the first time a formal portrait of the Duchess of Cornwall has been taken by the Duchess of Cambridge for a magazine and we are honoured to have been chosen to be the first to publish this beautiful photograph.

“The photographs are superb and we would be delighted to offer the Duchess of Cambridge another commission.”

George’s father, Prince William, also studied Art History at university so perhaps we might see future paintings by George in galleries across the world.
