Prince Charles made a special visit yesterday as he popped into a major high street store.
Usually more acquainted with high end as opposed to high street, the heir apparent made a surprising appearance at discount store TK Maxx.
Heading over to the retailer’s branch in South London’s Tooting, the first in line to the British throne met with young people who have taken part in the Prince’s Trust’s ‘Get into Retail’ scheme.
‘The programme offers specialist training and roles to young people, many of whom remain employees in TK Maxx stores,’ wrote Clarence House on their Instagram page.
‘TK Maxx's partnership with The Prince's Trust has helped over 1,000 young people since 2013,’ the royal account continued.
‘The Prince also joined a discussion with people who have been supported by @princestrust to hear about what it’s like to be a young Londoner today and the challenges they have overcome to gain stable employment’.
And the royal was reportedly ‘amazed’ by the humble high-street store, with the shop’s team leader Rachel Crawford saying, "He walked in and said it was amazing. He didn't expect it to be so bright and so luxurious, the way everything's displayed.
"He said it was very fresh,” she continued. “And he liked how the layout of the store looked. He was happy with the layout of the store."
Better keep an eye out – might spot the royal next time you’re down your local high-street!
