Meghan Markle was defended by Lisa Ling following the star's appearance on the Duchess' podcast, Archetypes, in an episode titled; 'The demystification of the Dragon Lady with Margaret Cho & Lisa Ling'.

In the Duchess' podcast featuring Lisa Ling, the pair spoke openly about racism and how they've both experienced toxic stereotypes as women of color. This eye-opening and raw important discussion was praised by fans and earned the Duchess a fan in Lisa Ling.

Following the podcast, Lisa shared an image on social media of herself, her daughter Jett, and the Duchess of Sussex. In the caption of the post, the journalist defended the Duchess against the negative press that has plagued her since she began dating Prince Harry.

The post from Lisa read, "So enjoyed talking to Meghan Markle for her podcast #Archetypes. She is such a bright and compelling conversationalist and I hope people take the time to get to know her beyond the often insidious headlines. @spotifypodcasts"

In a follow-up post about her interview with Meghan, Lisa shared a snippet from the podcast when Meghan revealed that the three words Lisa would use to describe herself are, 'spongelike, curious and conscious'.

Meghan then revealed that Lisa's daughter Jett thinks of herself as 'weird'. Rather than seeing this as a negative word, Meghan celebrated Jett's creativity and said that the nine-year-old's words stayed with her. Meghan said, "She gets to, as we all get to, define ourselves as we see fit."

Lisa loved this clip from the podcast and revealed on Instagram that this message even made her tear up a little as she listened back to the show.

"This brought a tear to my eye both in the moment and now because I wasn’t expecting what my child said. But I love how Meghan framed it. I mean frankly, we all are kinda weird," said Lisa.

The description for Meghan's podcast on Spotify reads, "a podcast where we investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back." Meghan and Prince Harry have often spoken about the racism the Duchess of Sussex has faced because of her skin color, and this podcast appears to be the outlet that allows Meghan to bring this issue to the forefront and use her platform to raise the voices of other women facing similar issues.

There are now five podcasts available to listen to on Spotify, and each episode features a woman of color with a story to tell. To date, Meghan has sat down with; Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Mindy Kaling, Margaret Cho, and Lisa Ling.
