Catherine, the Princess of Wales, paid tribute to a late member of the Royal Family as she wore Princess Diana's rare pearl earrings to a memorial event over the weekend.

King Charles III led Remembrance Sunday for the first time as monarch this weekend, senior members of the Royal Family gathered at the Cenotaph to pay their respects to the soldiers who have died during service. The Princess of Wales and Camilla, the Queen consort appeared on the balcony to view the service and watch as their memorial wreaths were laid at the war memorial on their behalf.

Both the Queen and the Princess wore all-black ensembles as they paid their respects, but both women chose to add a royal touch to their outfits with some stunning accessories. The Princess chose to wear an opulent pair of diamond and pear earrings that once belonged to the former Princess of Wales, Lady Diana.

The earrings worn by Kate were the Diamond and South Sea pearl earrings, featuring a circular design of diamonds, a single diamond-encrusted pear, and a dangling pearl drop.

The earrings were worn by Princess Diana repeatedly throughout the 1990s and she was photographed in them repeatedly. However, there is one key difference that Kate made to these earrigns when she became the owner.

When these earrings were given to Catherine, the Princess made the decision to opt for a smaller pearl to drop from the earrings. The stunning piece of jewelry comes in two parts and the diamond top part of the earring can be detached from the pearl bottom. This means that the wearer can just wear the diamonds as a stud, or change out the pearls at the bottom for a more or less dramatic look.

Princess Kate decided to swap out the large rare pearl in these earrings for a smaller and more delicate pair of pearls. This is a more contemporary look for the Princess, as opposed to the bigger is better style that was popular in the 1980s and 1990s when the earrings belonged to Princess Diana.

Just the day before the Remembrance service, the Princess of Wales wore another stunning piece of jewelry that was once owned by another member of the Royal Family. Kate Middleton wore the Queen's 80s pearl choker to the Festival of Remembrance on Sunday as senior royals gathered at the Royal Albert Hall.

It seems the Princess' outfit choices were very deliberate this weekend as she paid tribute to both Princess Diana and the late Queen with her choice of jewelry at this time dedicated to remembering those who have passed.
