Prince George and Princess Charlotte are back to school and nursery this week, after a long summer holiday off.
And just like all kids heading back to school, the little royals needed some school shoes. However, when mum Catherine took the kids to be fitted – she made a classic – and very understandable – mistake.
Prince George is already back to school at Thomas’s Battersea, while his younger sister Princess Charlotte went back to Willcocks Nursery School yesterday. So now, mum-of-three Catherine will only have little Prince Louis to entertain.
Over the summer the little royals have had some big appearances – like, for their uncle Prince Harry’s wedding, their little brother’s christening and of course, Trooping the Colour.
For these occasions every detail is managed, to ensure everyone turns up looking immaculate. But when the Duchess gets the opportunity to, she likes to do things for herself and her family.
So just like any other parents, in the mad back-to-school rush, Catherine took Prince George and Princess Charlotte shoe shopping.
However, according to a source who spoke with Hello! magazine, when the Duchess took George and Charlotte to a Peter Jones store in London to get their school shoes, she forgot to pack socks for them to try on the shoes with as they were both in sandals.
Given how hot the weather has been recently, it’s really no surprise that this tiny little detail slipped Catherine’s mind. And plus, any parent or carer will know that sometimes with kids, even getting out of the door can feel like an achievement.
Luckily, the shop’s assistant was on hand to help, and was able to give George and Charlotte some disposable socks to use while they tried on school shoes.
And of course, tiny little parenting slip-ups like this just prove that, although William will one day be King, he and Catherine really are just like the rest of us.
It’s recently been reported that the Duchess of Cambridge will be returning to her royal duties in October, following her maternity leave after giving birth to Prince Louis in April.
