Everything we know about the Ocean's Eleven prequel starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie
After starring in the much-anticipated Barbie movie together, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie will reportedly join forces again in an Ocean's Eleven prequel
Fans have still got one full year until they can catch Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken in the much-anticipated Greta Gerwig movie about the iconic Mattel dolls, set to be released on July 21, 2023.
But audience's eagerness may be temporarily tampered by the news that Ryan and Margot, who will return to Neighbours for final episode, are already scheduled to join forces once more, this time on an Ocean's Eleven prequel.
Prolific filmmaker Jay Roach is behind the effort and, although production won't start until the spring of 2023, Margot has been attached to the project for quite some time. According to a new report from Puck News, Ryan "has agreed to star with Margot in the prequel to the Ocean's movies, one of Warner Bros.' biggest franchises outside of DC and Harry Potter." Can you feel the audience's collective excitement?

Plot-wise, not much has been revealed yet other than the fact that the film will function as a prequel to George Clooney's character Danny Ocean's story line, so the movie will likely be set in Europe in the 1960s.
"Warner Bros. is reportedly attempting to fashion the prequel as a tentpole for the studio with a budget larger than Steven Soderbergh's previous Ocean's movies and the recent Sandra Bullock-led spinoff," reports Vulture.
As a reminder, Ocean's Eleven was released with an all-star cast back in 2001. The American heist comedy film was actually a remake of an eponymous 1960 Rat Pack production, this one featuring an ensemble cast that included George, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Andy García, Bernie Mac and Julia Roberts, among other stars.
In the film, George and Brad's characters planned to steal $160 million from a casino owner played by Andy, who also happened to be Julia's character's lover. In the film, Julia and George used to be married.

Given the fact that Ocean’s Eleven became one of the highest grossing films of the year back then, it is no surprise that it spun two sequels (Ocean's Twelve in 2004 and Ocean's Thirteen in 2007), plus an all-female spinoff that was released in 2018 called Ocean's 8.
This latest effort by Jay will clearly benefit from the pretty awesome reviews that the previous productions have enjoyed. Plus: fans will likely crave more Ryan-Margot screen time following the release of the new Barbie movie.
