Kate Garraway has been sharing her excitement on social media after discovering an influx of frogspawn in her garden. Explaining to her followers how her neighbours decided to remove their pond last summer, her garden is now the new home for all the displaced frogs – and she could not be happier, exclaiming, "I'm very, very excited."
Being new to this experience, Kate asked her followers to share their tips and advice to help the baby tadpoles survive, even taking her story to Good Morning Britain to enlist the help of a professional gardener on 'how to handle frogspawn'.
What follows next is nothing short of a budding mini-series, with fans regularly tuning in to see what happens next...

Kate Garraway's frogspawn pond discovery
After panicking and buying "the smallest pond in the world", Kate was worried there was not enough oxygen for the young tadpoles, and that while this was a good rescue, her small pond idea was not going to last.
"I'm now thinking I need to build an extension onto this pond to give them more space," she says in her original post. "Is that the best thing to do? Or should I take them somewhere? I'd welcome advice."
Garden expert Kate Bradbury, who joined her on GMB, shared the following pearls of wisdom to help get Kate started on her tadpole-rescue mission.
"I would go and get a bag of watercress from the supermarket, that will help clean the water up and provide hiding places for the tadpoles and give them a bit more of a natural environment," suggested expert Kate.

She advised against moving frogspawn due to the potential of spreading disease, suggesting instead that the best thing to do is "improve the habitat." She suggested digging a bigger pond and adding swallow areas.

Quick to the rescue, mere hours later, Kate took action, following the advice to introduce watercress to the small existing pond. "I popped an oxygenator plant in there too," she explains. "I'm also going to build an extension," she jokes to the camera.
The video clip then jumps forward to her showing how she has placed a larger pond next to the small pond. Due to the number of trees with established roots in her garden, Kate has chosen a raised pond, which 'clips together really easily.'
Demonstrating a budget garden idea, Kate has used an offcut of wooden edging to add a makeshift bridge, as suggested by lots of her online followers, as a "passageway for when they get bigger and need more space."
So they now have depth and plants to help them thrive. "Let's see if this is enough to cope with any overspill if it all gets too much in the smallest pond in the world, with this second-smallest pond. "
Delivering a frog update, much to the delight of her fans, Kate writes, "Thank you so so much for all your advice and to the wonderful @kategbradbury too - it’s still work in progress, but I'm hopeful as some have already hatched! Timmy & Tina tadpole have arrived. Keep watching as I have built a temporary extension too - any thoughts on how to make it more welcoming gratefully received!!!!"
We're staying tuned for the next instalment, as Kate hopefully continues to keep us updated on the welfare of her new frog family.
