A white shirt and jeans are such a timeless outfit combination that works all year round. It’s one of those looks that can be styled in multiple ways too, and Claire Foy just showed us that simply adding a statement bag can give the perennial pairing an elevated new feel.

The actress was spotted out in NYC last week wearing an oversized white shirt and low-rise boyfriend jeans, which she finished with a laid-back pair of black flip-flops. The ensemble was elegant yet relaxed, but Claire gave the casual pieces a polished upgrade by adding the Small Veneta Shoulder Bag by Bottega Veneta in a rich maroon shade. The woven design was enough to lift her look, and the pop of colour added a statement finish to her laidback look.

This particular accessory is one of the best designer bags to invest in and has been a big hit over the last few months. The glossy burgundy hue combined with a braided texture looks intricate and expensive, adding an elevated finish with ease.

We really love Claire's high-low outfit, as it looks effortlessly glam while still being very wearable and easy to recreate. Her designer handbag was the perfect finishing touch, but there are an endless number of options for shirts and jeans that echo the above.

Try adding a soft grey tote and loafers for your 9-5, or throw on a striped beach bag and some chunky sandals for a staycation. You can even wear your button-down and denim as a date night outfit by adding a glossy clutch and your favourite strappy heels.

However you decide to wear your separates, this really is one of those outfit combinations that will work for years to come, and you can rely on it for a long list of day or night occasions.
