When you think of quilted coats, you might imagine country-style outwear often spotted being worn by the Queen, not a designer inspired trend. But in recent years the quilted coat has come a long way. Dating back to ancient Egypt, quilting is the process of sewing two or more layers of fabric together to create a thick padded material. When it comes to winter dressing, you can’t get much cosier than the duvet-like quilted coat. It’s no surprise that it has become a staple in Scandi brand Ganni’s winter collections. If you love the Scandi trend as much as we do, then you’ll be thrilled to know that the high street has very quickly followed suit with an array of quilted styles this season.

    Belted Leather

The beloved trench coat is a style we return to every year. But this season the catwalk has inspired a new interpretation, the leather trench. Having appeared on the runway back in 2019, this year the leather trench is even more prevalent. The vintage inspired style was spotted at several runway shows including Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Hermes, to name a few. If you fancy swapping your classic trench for a sophisticated leather number, the high street has a plethora of PU and faux-leather iterations.

Checks are a timeless print and can be worn is so many different ways. An all time favourite for us, is a checked coat. The resurgence of the checked coat has been dominating catwalks and high street collections for a few years now, and it’s safe to say the trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The AW20 runway shows were an array of checks galore. Although a class print, checks can be super contemporary. Opt for a checked coat in bold contrasting colours, to add a fun pop of colour to your autumn/winter wardrobe.
