With Royal Wedding fever on the rise, people seem to think they know exactly who Meghan Markle has chosen to be her maid of honour.
Betting company Ladbrokes have caused a commotion by slashing the odds on one of the candidates for the role during the Royal Wedding – Meghan’s Toronto-based best friend Jessica Mulroney.
Jessica’s odds are now at 3/1, which puts her above other options like Priyanka Chopra and future sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge.
So, since it seems likely that Jessica will serve as Meghan’s right hand woman during the Royal Wedding, what do we know about her?
It is thought that she met Meghan when the actress moved from her native Los Angeles to Toronto, in order to film her role in Suits. It seems they quickly became friends, bonding over their shared passion – yoga.
A quick glance at Jessica’s Instagram shows how the two quickly became very important in each other’s lives.
Of course, now that Meghan has begun the ascent to Royal status, she has had to limit her appearances on anyone’s Instagram feeds, including Jessica’s.
Back in September 2017, when Meghan accompanied Harry to the closing ceremony of the Invictus games, there were only two people who joined her – her Mother Doria, and Jessica.
Clearly Meghan and Jessica are very close and it has been reported that Jessica, a stylist, has helped Meghan with her fashion choices. Jessica has denied any “formal” involvement in Meghan’s wardrobe, but we’d bet she has had a hand in influencing the actress’s style.
Meghan isn’t the only powerful woman Jessica has helped style, she has also teamed up with Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, who she dressed for the swearing-in ceremony of her husband Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister of Canada.
Of the moment that she dressed Sophie, Jessica revealed to the Telegraph, “She needed a few things to wear and was so busy. I was in Toronto so I sent her some options. She wore a coat by Canadian designer Sentaler and people went crazy for it.”
It seems Jessica is already well-versed in the Royal Family’s fashion history, comparing Sophie’s fashion moment to the effect the Duchess of Cambridge has on the industry.
“We had created this media frenzy, like you see with anything Kate wears. Then we realised we had a responsibility to create more moments like that to give homegrown designers an international platform.”
It seems like Jessica is the perfect candidate for the all-important role during the Royal Wedding!
