Choppy hairstyle

US hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai gives Marie Moulder a choppy cut - a fast and easy way to look younger

A haircut, particularly a choppy one, is a fast and easy way to look younger and fresher. US hairstylist Frédéric Fekkai gives Marie Moulder a choppy cut

The woman: Marie Mulder, 41, mother of five

The cut: Edgy layers and bangs

Why it works
“Marie is a tall, voluptuous woman with a sexy Angelina Jolie look, so keeping some length agrees with her,” says Frédéric. “Choppy bangs bring out her cheekbones and give a softer element to her overall style. Lots of layers show off her eyes, as well as adding lift and texture to her thick hair.”

What it takes
Marie wears hair extensions, which require extra care when styling to keep them soft. Defrizz using a lightweight styling cream that you can use on damp or dry hair, then add extra volume at the roots using a spray mousse or gel, whichever you prefer to use. Finally, accentuate layers with a dab of texturising or shine-boosting pomade on the ends.
