If you’re keeping an eye out for the next huge property hotspot and fancy forging a new life by the sea, then it seems there’s one Cornish coastal town that’s proving pretty hard to beat.

Now that travel restrictions are easing with the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, many of us are looking to get away for some relaxation. Especially now the potential seven places we can fly to this summer have been revealed. Though for others the idea of a UK holiday is perfect. Whether you’re keen to find the best lodges with hot tubs in Scotland for a specific quick break or the best staycations for 2021 for later this year, we can’t wait to enjoy some time away.

Some people might even be looking to take things one step further and make an exciting move up the property ladder. And when it comes to the UK’s property hotspots it seems there’s one in Cornwall that is really worth checking out.

Rightmove has now uncovered just how fast houses sell in this picturesque area and it seems we really do love to be beside the seaside...

Where is the UK’s new property hotspot?

As reported by Ideal Home, new data from Rightmove has revealed that Newquay has become the latest property hotspot for house sellers. The beautiful Cornish town might be better known for surfing than its property market, but that hasn’t stopped buyers.

A staggering 82% of all properties put up for sale there this year are already sold, subject to contract.

It may not be something everyone’s familiar with, but Rightmove’s sales figures reveal that eight out of every ten homes put up for sale this year are sold subject to contract (SSTC). However, this increased demand has also seen agents experiencing a serious shortage of stock.

‘The stock shortage is the worst I’ve seen in thirty years and there’s just seemingly endless demand,’ Bradley Start, Partner at Start & Co Estate Agents in Newquay said.

“We’re getting requests for viewings within minutes of a property going on Rightmove and many properties are going to best and final offers due to the competition, something that usually we would only see a few times a year.”

Where are other property hotspots in the UK?

Though it seems that many Brits are opting to head for the coast, Newquay in Cornwall is one of several property hotspots in the UK.

According to Ideal Home, the most in-demand areas are nearly always in stunning countryside locations.

Closely following Newquay in the top 10 is Merseyside’s Newton-Le-Willows, which sees just under 82% of properties SSTC, and Plymstock in Devon comes after with 81% currently SSTC.

“Areas around the North and South-West are the stand-out seller’s markets right now, and places in Cornwall and Devon are continuing the trend of a desire to move to the seaside and countryside,” said Tim Bannister, Rightmove’s Director of Property Data revealed to Ideal Home.

Tim went on to explain that both “sale and rental properties in city centres have been suffering over the past year”.

However, there’s no need to fear, as he believes that “we may see these start to shift more quickly over the next few months as lockdown restrictions continue to be removed.”

So if you’re looking to buy, you’ll have to act fast if your heart is set on a UK property hotspot!
