The Queen was all set to return to work after a bout of illness, with Remembrance Sunday her first major public appearance. However, she will now miss the event at Central London's Cenotaph due to a sprained back.

The Queen will not attend the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in London as she has sprained her back.

Her Majesty is said to be "disappointed" as this was set to be one of her first major appearances since a recent hospital stay which had fans concerned.

Other royals will still be in attendance - including Prince Charles who will lay a wreath on her behalf.

A Buckingham Palace statement read, "The Queen, having sprained her back, has decided this morning with great regret that she will not be able to attend today's Remembrance Sunday Service at the Cenotaph.

"Her Majesty is disappointed that she will miss the service."

She has missed the event just six times during her reign - either when pregnant or away on tour.
