The one thing Prince William and Kate Middleton are already doing differently compared to ‘staid’ Queen
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have reportedly taken a ‘very different’ parenting path compared to the Queen and Prince Philip…
There is reportedly one thing that Prince William and Kate Middleton do differently compared to the “staid” Queen and it “speaks volumes”.
- The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s body language with their children in public is said to be very telling indeed.
- According to an expert, their “tactile” approach is incredibly different to the Queen and Prince Philip and has echoes of Princess Diana.
- This royal news comes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a generous donation in their kids' names after heartbreaking news.
Having grown up as second in the royal line of succession, it’s perhaps no surprise that Prince William is following in the Queen’s footsteps and learning valuable lessons from Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. Both he and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge can be seen as emulating Her Majesty and the late Prince Philip with their unwavering commitment to royal duties, modesty and delightful sense of humor. However, they’ve apparently already proved they’re keen to forge their own path as future King and Queen Consort when it comes to their children.
Analyzing their approach to parenting in the public eye on behalf of MyBettingSites, body language expert Darren Stanton has suggested that compared to the Queen and Prince Philip, there’s one thing Prince William and Kate Middleton do differently.
“One thing about Kate and William that is clear is that they are very different parents compared with the Queen and Prince Philip as they have no issue with public displays of affection towards their children,” Darren claimed.
He went on to remark upon how much this has been highlighted in recent months especially when it comes to Prince George. From two Buckingham Palace balcony appearances over the Jubilee weekend to his Wimbledon debut, he’s been glimpsed more than ever this year.
Darren continued, “We are seeing this a lot recently as they make more appearances with George, slowly inducting him into a life of public service and into what will be one day a major part of his life as king.”
“I think one of their defining traits that speaks volumes about them as parents is the fact that they are including the children in all the events that are appropriate for them to attend in the daytime. They are not keeping what is essentially work separate from their family life, incorporating the children into it,” he later added.

Describing Prince William and Duchess Kate as “very tactile parents”, he suggested that there have been “few” other Royal couples who have “demonstrated this kind of genuine love and affection for each other as well as their children in the public domain”.
Instead, the body language expert reflected that “it has always been a royal protocol from the Queen to be rather staid”.
He also stated that “there are few examples of the Queen being involved with the Royal children whilst meeting dignitaries at various engagements.”
Shortly after her coronation, the Queen’s children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne were reportedly looked after at home for much of Her Majesty and Prince Philip’s Commonwealth Tour. And although they did attend some royal occasions, the Queen generally wasn’t pictured being as “tactile” as the Cambridges are.
“It definitely sets the trend for the kind of king that William and eventually George will become, one where he will be in touch with the public as we see his caring, paternal side coming out as a father,” Darren predicted, before suggesting a similarity between this "caring" approach and that of the late Princess of Wales.
“I think this is particularly where we see the influence of Princess Diana as he has very similar character traits to that of his mother such as compassion, understanding and communication," the expert added.
Whether Prince William and Duchess Kate intended to mirror Princess Diana or move away from the Queen and Prince Philip's parenting style remains to be seen. However, it seems as though the proud parents-of-three aren't afraid to showcase their close bond with their children in public and ensure they feel included as they prepare for the responsibilities that await them in the future.
