Prince William has launched an exciting new prize in collaboration with Sir David Attenborough.
The Duke of Cambridge and Sir David have joined forces to introduce the Earthshot Prize, which they reportedly hope will become the “Nobel Prize for environmentalism”.
As the biggest environmental prize ever, the award hopes to give out £50million over a decade, with Prince William calling for "amazing people" to come up with "brilliant innovative projects" in order to win the money.
Appearing on BBC Radio 4's Today Programme with Sir David, Prince William said, "I feel right now it's my responsibility".
"We hope that this Earthshot Prize reaches everyone around the world," continued the Duke of Cambridge.
"From communities, schools, right up to banks, governments, corporations - anyone and everyone is a part of this and anyone could find the solutions that we need."
"There's a lot of people wanting to do many good things in the environment and what they need is a bit of a catalyst,” he added, “a bit of hope, a bit of positivity that we can actually fix what's being presented".
"Suddenly we actually see the writing is on the wall," said Sir David. "People can see it's happening and it is a matter of great urgency now."
Introducing the prize on the Kensington Royal Instagram page, the account wrote alongside an introductory video, ‘We have just 10 years to repair the planet. By 2030, let’s choose to: 🐢 Protect and restore nature 💨 Clean our air 🌊 Revive our oceans ♻️ Build a waste-free world 🌍 Fix our climate.
‘Introducing the @EarthshotPrize 🏆 the most prestigious global environment prize in history, the result of two years of work by Prince William and The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.’
