Every day we bring you the latest news on Her Majesty The Queen, everything you need to know about the royal. We love keeping up with all the royal news here at woman&home, and know what The Queen is up to – from her important formal royal engagements and charity work, to the symbolic outfits she has worn throughout the years and her quiet private life where she enjoys various different hobbies and activities. Since taking up the crown back in 1952 at the age of just 25 after the untimely passing of her father King George VI, The Queen has become the longest-ever serving monarch in British History. During her reign she has developed relationships with numerous world leaders and has travelled the world over as part of royal visits. An important figurehead for the country and commonwealth, the monarch has led her followers through a time of enormous social change and has even reflected society’s new ideals in the way that she has governed her own family. Queen Elizabeth is an important figure not only to the country and commonwealth but to her own vast family of four children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Queen married husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh back in 1947 and together the couple share eldest son and heir apparent Prince Charles, as well as Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Through Prince Charles, who is now married to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the Queen has grandsons Prince William and Prince Harry, whose mother Princess Diana tragically passed away in 1997. The monarch is also grandmother to Princess Anne’s children Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, Prince Andrew’s daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and Prince Edward’s children James Mountbatten-Windsor, Viscount Severn and Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor. The Queen also has eight great-grandchildren: the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis; the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor; Peter and Autumn Phillips’ daughters Savannah and Isla Phillips and Zara and Mike Tindall’s daughters Mia and Lena Tindall. Her Majesty The Queen currently resides in official royal residences Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. Queen Elizabeth supports successes in all walks of life through the annual programme of Investitures (where she presents members of the general public with their honours), Garden Parties, receptions and other awards given in her name, which allow her to show her gratitude to all those who have made a contribution to the life of the nation and the Commonwealth.
