Prince Harry was reportedly perceived by some as “massively punching above his weight” with “glamorous” Meghan Markle at first, as revealed by a royal commentator.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship has gone from strength to strength since they first started dating back in 2016. Having settled in their Santa Barbara Mansion since they “stepped back” as senior royals, they seem as much in love than ever as they look forward to celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary in May. The couple are known to prefer keeping a level of privacy and in the early days, they even kept the exciting news of their blossoming romance under wraps.

It was Associate Editor at The Telegraph, Camilla Tominey, who first broke the iconic story that Prince Harry had found love with American actor Meghan. Following this, the journalist and royal commentator was present at Windsor Castle for the Sussexes’ big day as she covered their nuptials for excited fans. Now the long-time royal commentator has suggested that in the early days there was a feeling Prince Harry was “punching above his weight” with his remarkable new partner.

As revealed in an enlightening look-back video, Camilla shared how everyone was fascinated with the news about the Queen’s grandchild’s new relationship. And Meghan was certainly perceived as a catch, as the commentator disclosed how she could’ve been seen aa “ready-made royal”.

Camilla explained, “All we were interested in really was who this girl was, the nature of her being really glamorous, this sense that she was a ready-made royal because if you Googled her you found her addressing the UN and doing stuff for charity. So it was like, my goodness, this is a proper significant player in the whole sort of scene in that she was famous.”

The royal commentator then went on to express her belief that Meghan’s star-quality was so awe-inspiring that it produced a "sense" that it outweighed that of even “eligible” Prince Harry.

She light-heartedly added, “I think the overwhelming feeling was even though he was one of the world’s most eligible bachelors, there was this sense that Prince Harry was massively punching above his weight.”

By the time the wedding day arrived, however, Camilla revealed that regardless of anyone else’s opinions or perceptions, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s undeniable chemistry gave her “goosebumps” on that memorable day. After all, who could forget the moment the world caught it’s first glimpse of Meghan Markle’s wedding dress and their faces as they came together in St George’s Chapel?

“Journalistically and just from human nature, you’re very much tuned into some of the body language and it was really clear this sense to which the couple were totally besotted with one another, and that really came across in the church,” Camilla shared. “That chemistry between them provided goosebumps, because it’s really clear that they were deeply in love with each other.”

Whilst it might seem like only yesterday since the Sussexes’ royal wedding, the couple will celebrate their fourth anniversary in May. It’s thought that they and their children, Archie and Lilibet, could next reunite with the extended Royal Family for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022 celebrations.

Whether or not they will make the trip, however, currently remains to be seen since Prince Harry expressed fears his family is “not safe” in the UK due to “inherited risk”. Either way, many fans will no doubt be hoping to see him, Meghan and their children make the trip at some point in the not-too-distant future.
