The Duke of Sussex has made a surprise appearance during his break from royal duties.
- Prince Harry has interrupted his break from royal duties to send a video message to a conference discussing landmines.
- The topic is close to Harry's heart, as his mother Princess Diana worked to clear landmines around the world.
- The royal news comes after Prince Charles revealed fears for his grandchildren.
Prince Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan are currently on a break from royal duties with their son Archie, but the dad made an exception to appear in a surprise video message to the Oslo Review Conference in Norway.
The conference is a formal diplomatic meeting of the 164 States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
Prince Harry sent a recorded message urging delegates to keep working to fulfill the mission set out five years ago - to abolish all global landmines by 2025.
The topic is one close to Harry’s heart, as his mother Princess Diana hoped to eventually clear landmines around the world.
The move follows the prince's visit to Angola, earlier this year, where he retraced the steps of his mother - in a former minefield in Huambo. This was part of the Duke and Duchess' tour of Africa.
Back in 2017, Prince Harry announced he was supporting the Landmine Free 2025 campaign, founded by the HALO Trust and Mines Advisory Group (MAG). He said he hoped to finish the work his late mother had started.
Currently the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on a six-week break from royal duties, where they are thought to be spending time with Duchess Meghan’s mother Doria, in the US.
This year, the pair will not be spending Christmas at Sandringham with the Queen.
Instead, it’s believed the royal couple will spend it with Doria either in the United States or at their UK home - Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor.
But this won't be the first time royals spend Christmas elsewhere. The Duke andDuchess of Cambridgespent Christmas with Carole and Michael Middleton in 2012 and 2016.
