The upcoming biopic about Princess Diana's life, Spencer, has been criticised by royal experts, before filming has even begun.
- Spencer will centre on three pivotal days in Princess Diana's life, with Kristen Stewart playing the People's Princess
- Speaking on True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat podcast, two royal experts say the film will be an inaccurate portrayal of what happened during that period of time
- It follows Royal News that Meghan Markle 'will stay home' when Prince Harry returns to the UK this summer
Kristen Stewart is set to take on the role of Princess Diana in "Spencer", a new biopic about Princess Diana - following the late royal during three days in the 1990's.
But, the film - which is not due to start filming until later this year and will be directed by Pablo Larraín - has already come under fire by royal watchers.
What we know so far is that Spencer will centre on three important days at the Sandringham Estate, in which the late Princess of Wales realised her marriage to Prince Charles was starting to unravel.
While this is what writer, Steve Knight, has imagined in the script, royal insiders have argued that Princess Diana would not have been present at Sandringham during those dates and that things don't quite add up.

Royal biographer, Robert Jobson, told The Royal Beat - available on True Royalty TV from Saturday 30th January, “I don’t even think she was there that weekend. She wasn’t even at Sandringham, on this supposed weekend."
And, he suggests that not the only inaccuracy here, adding, "The film will suggest this is where the decision was made to divorce, but she never made that decision. I didn’t think she was at Sandringham after 1990 and this was set in 1991.”
Ever since The Crown was criticised for its portrayal of the royal family, there's been a real bee in the bonnet of royal fans as to what is portrayed as fact and fiction when it comes to the royals.
And Editor in Chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, suggests Spencer should be taken with a pinch of salt.
“The film is based on three days at Sandringham, and the period that it is based on, Diana wasn’t going to Sandringham anymore. It’s probably going to just play up what life was like at Sandringham.”
While some of the finer details surrounding the film are unclear, US actress Kristen Stewart is thrilled to be playing the People's Princess.
"I haven't been this excited about playing a part, by the way, in so long," she explained.
But, it's a role that comes with an incredible amount of pressure given just how loved Princess Diana was.
And it's something Kristen wants to get just right. "The accent is intimidating as all hell because people know that voice, and it's so, so distinct and particular," she revealed. "I'm working on it now and already have my dialect coach."
