The delightful Hulu mystery-comedy series Only Murders in the Building is officially coming back this summer, bringing along with it a slew of new characters that we can't wait to meet.
Season one of Only Murders in the Building—which you can watch from anywhere in the world—premiered to critical acclaim and audience raves in August, 2021.
The story follows three strangers—Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez—who live in the same building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the Arconia, and are all obsessed with a true crime podcast. After a suspicious death within the building shakes the neighborhood, the trio decides to investigate the happening on their own and chronicle their findings on a podcast dubbed—you guessed it!—Only Murders in the Building.
Fans may remember where the series, which was created by Steve alongside John Hoffman, left off when season one wrapped up. A refresher: the trio finds out who the murderer is but, following a series of events that lead to yet another murder, this one claiming Arconia Board President Bunny Folger as the victim, the self-proclaimed detectives are escorted out of their own building in handcuffs.
Although we don’t yet know what will happen on season 2, which will premiere on Hulu on June 28, the newly-released trailer does introduce us to a bunch of new cast members, including the hilarious Amy Schumer and the always-wonderful Cara Delevingne.
No details have yet been revealed about Amy’s character but we do know that Cara will play Alice, “a sophisticated art world insider who becomes enmeshed in the mystery."
According to official reports, the new season will focus on the trio's investigation into Bunny's murder while being the subject of a new, competing podcast themselves.
"New York City. Who doesn’t want to become the talk of the town here?" asks Steve, who plays Charles-Haden Savage, a semi-retired actor who was popular in the '90s, in the trailer.
"We’ve been warned not to speak out," continues Martin as Oliver Putam, a no longer successful Broadway director.
The clip ends with Selena's words as Mabel Mora. "But we here at Only Murders in the Building, we will not be going quietly," she says.
We can’t wait to watch.
