Ruth Langsford reveals genius hack she’s been using to keep active in lockdown

Ruth Langsford has been finding creative ways to get her step count up in lockdown as she vows to improve her fitness.

The TV star revealed she'd been having a clear out on Monday and the process of clearing out and filling a skip had helped her smash her 10,000 daily steps goal.

Sharing a snap of her fitness tracker showing a whopping 17,851 steps, Ruth, 60, said, "Amazing what clearing out and filling a skip can do for my daily steps."

And it's not just her daily steps challenge that has kept Ruth motivated during lockdown. At the beginning of lockdown This Morning star Ruth challenged herself to a fitness challenge.

Inspired by looking back at the journey she went on with personal trainer, Frank, before Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and with little else to keep her entertained, Ruth vowed to get better at skipping.

Revealing her plans on Instagram, Ruth said, "So… inspired by my previous post with @fitwithfrank (filmed in 2017 by the way for those asking!) I’m going to try skipping again! Loved it as a kid… bit harder when you’re 60! Only managed about 20 skips before I got tangled! If at first you don’t succeed…"

The TV star previously said she was always in the habit of saying, ‘I’ll start on Monday’ and has therefore used her time in lockdown to get it done.

Last year Ruth revealed she was "done with dieting" and vowed to embrace her post-menopause body - a far cry from just six months before when she admitted she was “sick of gaining weight” and felt “uncomfortable” in her clothes.

At the time she said, “When I put on any weight, I can’t shift it and that’s making me a bit fed up..

“I was basically a size 12 all my adult life, and then, when I hit 50, the weight crept up and 12s were feeling a bit snug."

But now, after the tragic death of her sister, the presenter has a fresh attitude when it comes to her image and she's finding the balance between staying healthy and living life to the full.

"I don’t care now, I’m too old to worry,” she confessed.
