Full moon rituals—how to harness lunar energy and set intentions

Full moon rituals should be tailored to the sign they fall under so you can gain the most from each lunation to help you move forward

Full moon rituals have been a sacred part of humanity since the beginning of time. Looking to the sun, moon, planets, and stars for guidance is by no means a new fandangle concept. So here's how to make the most of your full moon ritual each lunar cycle.

If you're down with your astrology birth chart, keeping up with your horoscope and manifesting bliss—odds are you're open to trying out different rituals to enhance your moon cycle.

Stephanie Powell, curator of Leona Moon Astrology, is a San Francisco-based astrologer, memelord, editor, writer, and cat lover. She kindly spoke to woman&home about full moon rituals and how to supercharge your life with these fun and interesting rituals.

Discussing her method, Stephanie says, "I usually like to incorporate the element of the lunation into my full moon rituals."

In other words, depending on which sign the moon is under, you should incorporate something that represents them. For example, the fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) might light a candle.

The earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn), could do some repotting of their houseplants. The air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) could do some breathing techniques for anxiety. And perhaps the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces) could have a bath filled with the best essential oils.

Full moon rituals—how to set your intentions

After focusing on something holistic and spiritual which connects to the earth, air, fire, or water sign the full moon falls under, it's time to get creative and think about what you truly want.

Stephanie says, "Make a paper sigil! Write out an affirmation: For example, 'I am abundant' and remove all repeating letters and vowels. Create a symbol with the letters you are left with--there is no right or wrong way to design a sigil," she explains. "Here, you are the magic."

"Charge your sigil with your intention: Light a candle and focus on your desires or move your body with exercise, dance, or singing and activate your energetic core to raise your vibration."

"Look at your sigil and imagine directing that energy into it. Visualize what your life is like with this change as if it's already occurred. Get specific!"

Once you've created your intention and your sigil, it's time to let go.

"Now it's time to release!," Stephanie tells us. "Grab a bowl of water (for safety) and burn the sigil. Take any remains and throw them away in the garbage (preferably a garbage outside of your home)."

So now all there is left to do is take in all of the abundance and enjoy the fruit of your manifestations. Happy full moon to you all.
