It has just been announced that the BBC is picking up Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love. The beloved book from Dolly Alderton will be made into a BBC drama directed by China Moo-Young.

The BBC is responsible for creating some of the best book-to-movie adaptations ever. From Normal People to The Pursuit of Love, the BBC has created some great TV shows that are based on popular books and it has just been announced that the hit novel, Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love is the next choice to be adapted by the BBC.

This novel was released in 2018 and became a huge success. The book was a Sunday Times bestseller and many people loved this relatable life story from the award-winning journalist that included everything from anecdotes about her life and relationships, to recipes that are best eaten hungover.

The BBC Press Office announced that they have commissioned this title along with five other titles.

Dolly announced her delight about this adaptation and described the adaptation in a statement, "It’s a messy, boisterous, joyful, romantic comedy about two best female friends from childhood and what happens when they move into their first London house share and the first phase of adulthood. I cannot stress enough how thrilled I am that it is being made by Working Title and the BBC."

The writer revealed that she is writing the screenplay for this adaptation and has been working on this project for four years. She said on Instagram, “I’ve been working with Working Title on the project for nearly four years and I am so grateful that this story has grown and developed in such safe hands. BBC drama has made extraordinary TV over the last year and it is an honour to be on their slate of upcoming shows.”

She then teased the boys mentioned in her novel saying, “And before every boy I dated a decade ago messages me today to breezily ask how I am, it’s semi-fictionalised, so don’t panic fellas.”

The BBC's synopsis reads, "Maggie and Birdy, besties since school, finally land in London to live it large, when the unexpected happens – dependable Birdy gets a steady boyfriend. A generous, funny, warm-hearted and uplifting Sex & The City for millennials which covers bad dates and squalid flat-shares, heartaches and humiliations, and, most importantly, unbreakable female friendships."

Drama Commissioner at the BBC, Piers Wenger, said, "I'm sure people will compare it to Sex and the City, or to Girls but the truth is Dolly is an author in her own right, and she is uproariously funny and it's a very personal, and at times dark story, but with massive amounts of humour and emotional truths to it."

We loved the book and we cannot wait to see the adaptation—let's hope we don't have to wait too long!
