Why everyone is talking about Victoria Derbyshire's BAFTA's dress

Victoria Derbyshire

Last night saw the return of the annual BAFTA TV awards ceremony, with a whole host of famous faces in attendance.

And one celebrity who took to the red carpet was newsreader and journalist Victoria Derbyshire, who was there as part of her involvement in the fabulous The All New Monty: Ladies Night.

But it wasn't only the 50 year old's important TV show that people were talking about - it was also her stunning white dress, which she wore for the occasion.

Because it turns out that Victoria's fabulous, 50s style white gown with glittering diamonds adorning the outside wasn't just a special awards dress - it was also her wedding dress!

Over on her Instagram, she revealed that she'd opted to re-wear the dress from her big day for the glamorous TV event - and we think she looks incredible!

Victoria wrote, 'Off to the BAFTAs wearing my wedding dress like...', alongside a photo of herself in the gorgeous gown.

It's reported that Victoria married her long-time partner Mark Sandell in an intimate ceremony back in April of this year, after deciding to propose to her now-husband back in 2015, a day after receiving her breast cancer diagnosis.

Speaking about the proposal at the time, she said, "My first official day of living with cancer was August 1, 2015.

"So I got up and went downstairs and announced to Mark that we had been together for 15 years and we should get married. He’s been married before and he said with a straight face, ‘I think marriage is overrated to be honest.' It completely broke the tension and yeah, one day we will get married, but I’m not telling you when."

Victoria's fans loved the glimpse at her wedding dress on BAFTAs day, with many on social media commenting on how fabulous she looked.

One said, 'Wow you look stunning', and a second fan agreed, saying, 'You look absolutely gorgeous!!! Your dress is so beautiful😻🥰'

While a third wrote, 'Good luck! You look stunning! 😍'.

Although The Real Full Monty didn't manage to scoop the award, with I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here beating them to it, it looks like the ladies all still had a great time.
