Catherine met Prince William at the University of St Andrews in 2001, ten years before the two eventually tied the knot at Westminster Abbey. Prince William popped the question to his then girlfriend in October 2010, in Kenya, during a 10-day trip to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Their engagement was announced by Clarence House on 16 November 2010. Catherine now lives with her husband and three children at the family's official residence in Kensington Palace, in London. They also spend time at their country home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall, situated on the grounds of the Queen's Sandringham Estate. The future Queen consort often supports the Queen at royal events, both in the UK and abroad. She is also a patron of a number of organisations, including the National Portrait Gallery. However, her main focus has been on projects around children’s early development and what can be changed and improved so that kids everywhere can have the best possible start in life. Catherine also often speaks about her love for photography, and is an Honorary Member of the Royal Photographic Society.
