Why Prince William left Duchess Catherine in tears one Christmas

A small blip in the couple's lovely relationship...

why william left Kate in tears at Christmas

A royal book has claimed that Christmas was canceled by the future King Prince William, back in 2006.

A book focusing on the relationship between Prince William and Kate Middleton has claimed that The Duchess of Cambridge was left tearful after William apparently cancelled spending time with her family over the festive season back in December 2006.

While the couple are now very happily married with three children, Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and Prince Louis, who was born in April this year, it has been claimed that they have clashed over Christmas in the past.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl claims in her book The Making of a Royal Romance that there was tension between the couple twelve years ago when Prince William made some last minute changes to their Christmas plans, apparently only informing his future wife of the new schedule during a late-night phone conversation on Boxing Day.

The author revealed, 'At the last minute William has a change of heart and decided to stay with his own family instead'.

Was Prince William having second thoughts?

Katie also claims in her book that while the change was no big deal for William, Kate was left worried that it was a sign of something more sinister to come…

'She had good reason to be concerned. William had been having second thoughts and sat down with his father and grandmother to have a frank discussion about his future with Kate. Both advised him not to hurry into anything.'

But, of course everyone knows that the royal couple went on to get married at Westminster Abbey back in April 2011, with over 26 million people around the globe watching the royal celebration.

The pair will now be looking forward to spending this year’s Christmas together with their three children, a particularly exciting time for the family with this being Prince Louis’ first ever Christmas.

Earlier this month the Duke and Duchess hosted a Christmas Party for families and children of deployed personnel from RAF Coningsby and RAF Marham serving in Cyprus.

Kate said that the time, “I can’t imagine how it feels when your loved ones are away on active service over Christmas or at those special family moments. The absence of people you love must be especially hard at this time of year.

"William and I, however, hope that today shows, in some small way, how much you are all valued.”
