The Queen is inviting the entire country to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee with her by asking people across Great Britain to light jubilee beacons on June 2, 2022.

On the evening of June 2, 2022, the UK will light up as beacons are lit across Great Britain in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee

This momentous event is one of the many celebrations that will involve everyone in the country as the Royal Family encourages fans to participate in the celebrations and light their own beacons of light.

The Royal Family revealed that in celebration of this occasion, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Gregory Porter will be singing 'A Life Lived with Grace' at 9.45pm when the beacons are lit across the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, UK Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth.

There is a comprehensive guide to taking part published on the Royal Family website that encourages people to either find their local beacon lighting so they can attend, or light their own beacon as the country comes together.

This beacon lighting is a tradition that has taken place for many years and was most recently celebrated in 2012 during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration. Beacons were lit across the country as royal fans gathered in London to see official beacons lit, and across the coast to see as bonfires were also constructed as huge beacons.

Most commonly, the beacons are lit on the top of mountains, church and cathedral towers, castle battlements, on town and village greens, country estates, parks, and farms, plus beaches and on cliff tops.

A number of organizations are already involved and many have expressed their delight to take part in this event. "The National Trust is delighted to be playing an active role in The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon lighting on 2nd June 2022, in celebration of this unique moment in The Queen’s reign," said the National Trust who are lighting beacons across the UK. "We also took part in The Queen’s Diamond and Golden Jubilee Beacons in June 2012 and 2002, as well as the First World War Centenary Beacon lighting in 2018, and look forward to welcoming visitors to attend this special tribute to Her Majesty The Queen,” said Justin Albert, Regional Director for Wales.
