The Royal Family revealed that in celebration of this occasion, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Gregory Porter will be singing 'A Life Lived with Grace' at 9.45pm when the beacons are lit across the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, UK Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth.
There is a comprehensive guide to taking part published on the Royal Family website that encourages people to either find their local beacon lighting so they can attend, or light their own beacon as the country comes together.
This beacon lighting is a tradition that has taken place for many years and was most recently celebrated in 2012 during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration. Beacons were lit across the country as royal fans gathered in London to see official beacons lit, and across the coast to see as bonfires were also constructed as huge beacons.
Most commonly, the beacons are lit on the top of mountains, church and cathedral towers, castle battlements, on town and village greens, country estates, parks, and farms, plus beaches and on cliff tops.
