Meghan Markle texted Oprah while her bombshell interview was airing. As the rest of the world tuned in to Harry And Meghan Markle’s interview with the chat show queen, the Duchess of Sussex was putting baby Archie to bed while waiting to hear how well the interview had been received.

“Well, I haven’t really spoken to them since the interview because we’re in different time zones,” Oprah told CBS This Morning following the interview. “I got a text from Meghan yesterday saying, ‘How’s it going?’ Because she was putting Archie to bed waiting on the West Coast feed and had no idea what was happening on the East Coast.”

Oprah says she wrote back, “I don’t either. From what I can tell, it’s going well, I know it’s airing,’” and added that she’d probably be having a conversation with the couple about the special later.

Meghan and Prince Harry spoke candidly during their talk with Oprah – revealing Meghan’s struggles with her mental health, claiming that the Duchess and Archie had been subject to racism, and the reasons behind stepping down from living in the royal spotlight.

Since the interview, Buckingham Palace has issued an official statement: ‘The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. Whilst some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.’

And while Prince William has continued with his schedule of royal engagements, the Duke of Cambridge has spoken out on royal family racism claims, saying, “We are very much not a racist family.”

Recently, a royal expert claimed that Prince Charles supposedly wanted to address some of his son Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Oprah interview claims “point by point” in a more “detailed” palace response.
