Sure, sofa beds are great if you have room to accommodate extra seating, but what about those looking for a more compact solution? That's when an ottoman sofa bed might be a better fit.
And they don't come more chic than the new model that has just arrived at Dusk. I stumbled across this new addition while looking for ways to maximise my living room ahead of hosting guests over the coming months.
While I've entertained the idea of one of the best sofa bed armchairs, they've always felt too big and bulky to add to my existing furniture collection. This savvy new design feels like the smart way to add extra seating, a footrest and a bed when needed. It's ticking all the boxes for my small living room.
One minute the Kennadi ottoman is a generous footstool to put your feet up while sitting on the sofa, or an upholstered alternative to a coffee table, but as soon as it's needed, it folds out into a single sofa bed with a chic integrated headboard.
The thing I love most about this sophisticated design is how undetectable it is as a sofa bed. In pouffe form, the button-back cushioned top and streamlined footed base give no clues to its hidden purpose.
The understated, traditional look ensures it blends beautifully into the surrounding decor in any living room or bedroom.
The decorative button-top then becomes a stylish headboard, giving it a clear and distinct purpose as a bed - an incredibly clever design concept.
And of course, the choice of three very different colours makes it incredibly versatile from one room to another.
Given its compact design, the mattress component is understandably a little on the thin side. But for a night or two, that is perfectly acceptable and provides adequate comfort to aid a good night's sleep.
The design team at Dusk do advise adding a little extra cushioning if required, because the "folding design creates a firmer sleep surface than a traditional bed."
As the team suggests, we too would recommend adding one of the best mattress toppers to bulk it out, providing an extra layer of cushioning if your guests are staying longer or need a little more support.
The ottoman sofa bed is available in single and small double sizes, to cater for all rooms.
Because the product is brand new, it's currently available on pre-order, with an estimated dispatch date between 11th November and 18th November - still plenty of time before the festive hosting season begins.
