Can't splurge on a new mattress? 6 money-saving ways to make your bed feel brand new
Whether it's a super soft muslin throw or some brand-new bedding, now's the chance to refresh your bedroom
Whether it's the changing of the seasons, or simply the passage of time, a bedroom refresh is in order. Rather than spending thousands on a mattress, I've found some simple, affordable extras that will give you that true hotel-bed feeling.
As Josie Towells, Head of Buying at Simba notes, autumn is the perfect time for kicking off cosy season at home. She recommends bringing "warmer, earthy tones and softer, more tactile fabrics" that instantly make your bedroom feel more inviting, from autumnal bedding through to a new, cosy duvet.
Josie has plenty of tips for finding the perfect pieces to make your bed feel brand new this season, whether that's with your pillows, a textural, cosy throw, and a super soft pillow. With the Simba sale live and plenty of new launches on the market, here are 6 wallet-friendly finds that will do just that.
Josie also recommends bringing "more tactile fabrics like waffle and muslin which instantly make a bedroom feel more inviting." Bedding makes the biggest impact, because it has the most contact with your skin and it's what you notice as soon as you walk into a room. Naturally moisture-wicking and breathable, this is the gold-standard. Josie adds that people are seeking out "warmer, earthier tones," for autumn bedding and luckily, this comes in them all.
Pair it with the soft muslin quilt for a in irresistible bed.
Your mattress protector just might be the most underrated layer of your bed, but it works really hard. Simba's naturally moisture-wicking bamboo layer is one of the best. According to Megan Anderson, Director of Merchandising at Mattress Firm, the right keeps your mattress feeling hotel-fresh, wicking away "spills, sweat and allergens without creating a noisy or hot sleep surface." The Simba ticks all of those boxes.
If your mattress has lost a little of its magic, but still has good bones, a good mattress topper is the easiest way to bring it back to life. As Martin Gill, Managing Director at And So To Bed puts it, "a topper can soften a firmer sleep surface, add pressure relief, improve breathability or recreate the indulgent feel of a luxury hotel bed." Simba's cool foam takes that indulgence one step further, actively working to keep you cool through the night.
Megan Anderson explains that the best pillows make up around 25% of your sleep surface, which is why changing your old one can make such a huge difference. Simba's pillow balances sink-in softness with cradling support like the very best of them, perfect for side and back sleepers.
The best duvets change with the seasons, which is why we love this hybrid. It wicks away moisture and moves heat away from your skin, so you can feel cosy, but still cool at night. Taryn Weitzman at Down Etc adds that "a duvet can completely change the look and feel of your bed." She also recommends looking for quality construction, such as baffle-box designs, which help keep the fill evenly distributed so the duvet maintains its loft over time.”
The Simba Sale finishes at the end of this long weekend, making this the perfect time to spend on some brand-new bedding to give your room a fresh look and feel. You've heard from the experts and seen the deals that I've scoured through the sale for, now it's in your hands.
