Naomi Watts just made a strong case for swapping classic white trainers for this bold colour

You can never go wrong with a bold pop of red

If you need inspiration for comfortable autumn outfit ideas this season, the airport is the place to look. Celebrities know how to travel in style and comfort, and Naomi Watts’ travel ensemble is an outfit we would happily wear on repeat.

Spotted in a pair of relaxed grey track pants and a bomber jacket that nails the leather jacket trend, Naomi’s red Super Lowpro shoes from Vans really make this outfit one to recreate.

Red is one of the standout autumn/winter fashion colour trends for 2026, and the easiest way to incorporate it into any look is through your accessories. This could be a handbag or hairscarf, but as Naomi proves, a pair of red trainers really pack a punch – and feel that bit fresher than your favourite white trainers.

Tomato red was a mainstay on the autumn/winter runways, with designers including Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera and Hermès sending colour-drenched occasionwear and bold, sensuous gowns down the catwalk. But when it comes to everyday capsule wardrobes, you only need a hint of red to really make an impact.

Naomi highlighted her red trainers by keeping her travel look muted and neutral, with her black leather bomber providing contrast and proving exactly why timeless styles like this remain some of the best autumn jackets. To soften the effect, her grey track pants acted as a neutral bridge to create a more refined transition between the two shades.

It’s a trick you can rely on when styling any bold shoe against a more muted outfit. Just opt for grey wool trousers, a grey pencil skirt or even grey-wash denim to soften harsher shades like black and play them into brighter pops.

Remember that red is actually a relatively neutral colour. It can look effortlessly chic with many other hues, from neutrals like white, navy, black or brown, to more playful tones. A personal favourite of mine is red and lilac – or you could change things up with a pattern like leopard spots.
