But whilst these were one-off occasions, there’s an annual tradition for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis that fans look forward to. Each year their proud parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shared a new birthday portrait on their big days, often taking by Kate Middleton herself.

Over the years Prince George’s adorable moments have entertained people across the world and his birthday photographs have captured many of these too. The latest to be shared by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge came the day before he turned nine on July 22nd.
“George is turning 9! 🎂🎈”, the social media caption declared simply, alongside a snap of the future King beaming. This new Prince George birthday photo looks to have been taken at the beach given the lines of sand and sea that appear faintly behind him.
The Prince, who is third in the royal line of succession, is wearing a sky-blue t-shirt and the Royal Family wears blue a lot, suggesting he’s already mirroring his relatives. The snap shows Prince George looking relaxed and in this candid birthday photo many fans have spotted a startling resemblance to another royal…
Taking to the comments many wrote that he looks so much like Prince William, with one replying, “He looks just like William to me! Beautiful boy. Happy birthday PG 🎂”.
“He’s looking so much like his daddy these days! Happy Birthday George! 🎈 🎂”, another person shared, expressing a belief that their resemblance has grown.
A third person agreed that the two look very much alike, responding, “What a fantastic photo! George looks so much like his dad. 💙

The new Prince George birthday photo has definitely got fans talking and he’s thought to be keen to follow his “hero” father’s example. Last year when they watched the Euros 2020 there was apparently an adorable reason he wore a suit.
Opening up to OK! at the time, royal expert Duncan Larcombe declared, “Prince William is George's absolute hero. He thinks his dad’s the most perfect person on the planet. George idolises his dad. That’s why we saw him looking so smart in his suit - he really wanted to dress like William."
