Water Signs of the Zodiac

  • Cancer Zodiac Dates: June 21 - July 22
  • Scorpio Zodiac Dates: October 23 - November 21
  • Pisces Zodiac Dates: February 19 - March 20

Water signs have an otherworldly depth to them. You can’t lie to a water sign. People with heavy water placements in their birth charts are known to be sensitive, deep, emotional, and intuitive.

If you have one or multiple planets in Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces, you have a water-heavy birth chart! Having more than one planet in the element of water makes for a very caring and compassionate individual.

Water is powerful–it can be a frozen icy tundra, a powerful wave, or even a gentle tide. It’s ever-evolving and changing. Water signs’ sensitivity makes them take things to heart. They are fiercely protective of those they love. Their friends and/or family are of the utmost importance.

Their emotional world can feel overwhelming sometimes, due to their psychic link to others. They are able to pick up on energy effortlessly and it may be challenging to define what is their own and what belongs to someone else.

Water sign traits

Water signs know how to care for you. They can tune into your feelings and sense them personally. This element in the zodiac is caring beyond belief. Cancer can intuitively pick up on what you’re feeling, Scorpio will be honest and direct with you about your feelings, and Pisces will feel those feelings alongside you, tears and all.

Water signs are eager to form connections with others. They crave depth and soul connections. These aren’t the type of zodiac signs that will maintain a friendship if it’s surface level. They want you to be brave enough to bare some of your soul.

These emotional beings feel quickly and can fall fast! It’s no surprise that they often find themselves in partnership or obsessed with finding partners. They are warm, generous and big hearted. Having a water sign in your life can help you align deeper with your own intuition and get in touch with your feelings.

Water Sign Compatibility

Water signs are generally compatible with earth signs. Although astrological compatibility is much deeper than the elements in your birth chart, having a flow of energy between elements can help. Think of how water nurtures the earth’s soil. And earth gives water a purpose. There is a natural synergy between these elements.

These two elements can be more reserved and cautious. They’re also, generally speaking, homebodies. Earth and water signs don’t mind spending evenings at home, cooking in and spending quality time together.

The main difference between the two signs is that earth signs are more practical and grounded, while water signs can be more emotional and sensitive. Despite their differences, these two elements have much to learn from one another, which makes for a cosmically aligned blend of energies.

So does your love horoscope 2022 include any or both of these elements?

Cancer

Cancer is a cardinal sign, which means it loves to initiate and even kicks off its own season: summer time. Cancer is the sign that is oftentimes associated with home and family. For good or for worse, family and ancestry have influenced Cancers in some profound way. They have a protective nature like no other sign and are absolutely the best friend you call in the middle of the night when you need to vent.

This water sign is ruled by the Moon. The Moon is the most comfortable when it moves through Cancer, a sign that naturally reminds itself and others of the importance of nurturing. Cancers are incredibly caring and generous, but are also security conscious. They need to feel a sense of safety and security with those they love. This water sign can also get lost in nostalgia. If you see a cancer in your life staring off in the distance, it’s likely they’re taking a stroll down memory lane.

In astrology, the Moon has been linked with our memory. Cancers won’t forget if you’ve done them a favor and also won’t forget if you’ve done them wrong. Similar to the Moon calendar's waxing and waning cycle, Cancer’s can get a reputation for being moody. If your ruling planet was changing zodiac signs every 2.5 days, you’d probably have some emotional ups and downs, too!

Scorpio

Easily one of the most misunderstood zodiac signs, Scorpio is known for its depth and mystery. Ruled by Mars, the planet of war and action, Scorpio knows how to employ a strategy like no other.

Scorpios are Olympic athletes when it comes to getting others to reveal information about themselves while sharing nearly nothing personal on their end. They have tact like no other.

Scorpios are hesitant to trust. This water sign needs proof before they dive in head first and put faith in you. Control can be a big issue with Scorpio energy. They know that information is power and that if their personal information gets in the wrong hands, it could be held against them. It takes time for Scorpios to open up–you must absolutely first prove yourself. Are you trustworthy? Are you in it for the long haul?

As a fixed sign, Scorpios are quite stubborn. They know what they want and can be ruthless in going after it. This is also a gift. They have the drive, determination, and expertise to not only pursue their dreams but manifest them and bring them to life. This water sign is extremely loyal, but don’t forget its stinger. If you cross a Scorpio, good luck winning them over again.

Pisces

As the zodiac sign with one of the biggest hearts, it’s no wonder Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion. This water sign is compassionate, empathetic, open-minded, and generous. Pisces seeks to merge their souls with another. They want to dive into the depths of your subconscious and explore other worlds.

Pisces is also an incredibly creative sign. This water sign thrives when it has some type of creative outlet. Creativity serves as a wonderful outlet because this water sign can tend to overidealize people and situations. They can get caught in their heads daydreaming about someone’s potential or what could be. Channeling this energy through art will help Pisces remain grounded and avoid missing any potential red flags.

This water sign is one of the most psychic. They are emotional sponges and absorb others’ energy with ease. It can be incredibly difficult for Pisces to set boundaries and to also name what they’re feeling. They feel so much that they might not know if they are experiencing a personal emotional reaction to something in their life or from something they witnessed in the supermarket. Pisces is a mutable sign so they also require verstability. They are incredibly welcoming and open-minded and love learning new things.
