The word 'trite' has frustrated a number of Wordle players who were unable to guess Wordle 396 and subsequently ruined their streaks.

Obscure words such as agape,  pintogawky, and brink, have previously frustrated Wordle players who have struggled to think of these words when playing the online word puzzle game.

Like these words, on July 20, 'trite' was another Wordle challenge that stumped a number of game players who were unfamiliar with this uncommon word. Angry fans have taken to social media to complain that this challenge was too hard, and has ruined their streak completely.

"My first ever Wordle loss. After half of a year of playing this game every consecutive day and never failing I have finally let myself down. A new streak must begin," said one player.

"I even tried to eliminate possible 4th letters on my 5th try and still couldn’t get it. Goodbye 121 day streak," said another player who also failed to solve the puzzle.

"Finally got my ass after 183 correct answers Wordle 396 X/6," said another.

Others specifically complained that the word 'trite' was too niche and should not have been included as a possible answer for the Wordle challenge.

"THIS IS THE MOST BULLS**T WORDLE EVER F**K THIS S**T WTF," said one furious fan.

"Trite? @nytimes fu**ing trite?! You ruined my perfect wordle record with TRITE?! AN IMAGINARY WORD," said another fan who didn't believe that trite was even a valid answer.

"Trite is not a real word is it? Wordle 396 X/6," said another.
