Kate Garraway is swapping news reporting for soap stardom – albeit only briefly – as the TV presenter has revealed she will be joining the cast of Hollyoaks.
The Good Morning Britain host will be leaving the ITV studio for the set of the Channel 4 soap in order to film a cameo in the show that will air this Autumn.
Taking to Twitter, Garraway announced the exciting news to her fans. “A big thanks to the Hollyoaks gang for making filming my small part in a big plot for September so much fun!” the 50-year-old wrote.
Although Kate was initially sworn to secrecy about the details of her plot line in the soap, she did reveal that audiences are, “going to be gripped” when the episodes finally air.

However, more details of the Kate Garraway Hollyoaks cameo have now finally been revealed.
It has come to light that real-life news reporter Kate will be ‘reporting’ on character Ste Hay’s murder trial in Hollyoaks, following the death of character Amy Barnes.
The storyline so far saw tragic Amy Barnes murdered on her wedding night after marrying character Ryan Knight – played by former ‘Blue’ pop-star Duncan James. During the trial, viewers will finally find out who really committed the crime.
It appears that some of Kate’s scenes were shot inside a mock
courthouse, whereas others were filmed outside with Kate reporting on the trial to camera whilst contending with
adverse weather conditions trying to get her takes.
Kate Garraway isn’t the first TV presenter to make a cameo on the soap. Eamonn Holmes once made an appearance on Hollyoaks back in 2012. He appeared in scenes with Mitzeee Minniver when the character appeared on the Sky News Sunrise programme, which was hosted by Eamonn at the time.
