Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer might have played one of our favorite on-screen couples of all time in hit sitcom Friends, but it seems there could now be a real-life romance blossoming between them.

Earlier this year, the pair admitted to “crushing hard on each other” as they opened up to British talkshow host James Corden during the highly-anticipated Friends: The Reunion. This aired in May, with Friends fans later being treated to an extra Friends Reunion as the cast came together with James for a special edition of his popular Carpool Karaoke. However, it was the statements made by Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer about their former feelings for each other that really caught viewers’ attention.

Now just months later, speculation has arisen over whether Rachel and Ross could actually be dating after all. A source alleged to Closer that, “After the reunion, it became clear that reminiscing over the past had stirred up feelings for both of them and that chemistry they’d always had to bury was still there."

They continued, “They began texting immediately after filming and, just last month, David flew from his home in New York to see Jen in LA. They’ve been spending time at Jen’s home, where she’s cooked dinners in the evenings, and have enjoyed quality time together, chatting and laughing.”

The source also claimed that Jennifer and David have been spotted as they “walked around one of Jen’s favorite vineyards” and that it was clear there was “lots of chemistry between them”.

Whilst many Friends fans might be keeping their fingers crossed for these reports to be true, Jennifer and David have not officially confirmed the rumors. However, that hasn’t stopped some from getting seriously excited about a recent cryptic Tweet posted by Jennifer.

Taking to Twitter, the Hollywood star simply shared two emojis, one covering its mouth and the other looking a little dismayed.

In response, many fans began to wonder if it could be a suggestion that the recent speculation is indeed correct.

‘so… is it true?’ one asked, whilst another commented eagerly, ‘PLEASE TELL ME YOU TO ARE DATINGGGG’.

A fellow fan seemed to be convinced that Jennifer's mystery message could have hinted that romance has blossomed between her and her former co-star, declaring, 'OMG it means that it is true ?????? Roschel 4ever'.

And other simply shared a nostalgic throwback clip of Ross and Rachel hugging on the balcony of the iconic Friends apartment.

'OMG If this news is true then it's great news. You both deserve to have your happy ever after He's your Lobster', another person delightedly commented.

What did Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer reveal in the Friends Reunion?

The recent rumors come it was revealed during the Friends Reunion that Ross and Rachel—one of the most iconic couples in television history—nearly got together in real life! When probed by host James Corden about off-screen romances, the co-stars admitted that they had feelings for each other a long time ago.

James Corden asked, "Will you allow me to ask what I would consider a cheeky question? It's hard not to recognize that you're all young, hot, good-looking successful actors. It's inconceivable to me that there weren't perhaps off-screen romances."

Jennifer replied coyly, "Well... I mean... David... the first season."

David then admitted, "The first season... we... I had a major crush on Jen", whilst Jennifer responded, "It was reciprocated."

David then explained, "At some point, we were both crushing hard on each other. But it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary and we both respected that."

Matt LeBlanc then whipped out a classic Joey Tribbiani one-liner and yelled, "Bullsh*t", as the crowd began laughing at them.

Shockingly, Jennifer Aniston then admitted that she was surprised that their first kiss took place on-screen as opposed to off-screen.

She revealed, “I just remember saying one time to David, 'It's going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television.' Sure enough, the first time we kissed was in that coffee shop. So, we just channeled all of our love and adoration for each other into Ross and Rachel."

Jennifer was of course discussing the iconic scene when Ross arrives at the coffee shop at night and while Rachel is closing up, the two share their first kiss. Courteney Cox also pitched into this conversation and admitted that the chemistry between Jennifer and David was "palpable" and very obvious on set that day.

“That scene in the coffee house, their first kiss, I was watching it the other day and I was weeping at the end of it. The tension, it was just palpable, it was just perfect," she declared.

For anyone who has yet to catch up on Friends: the Reunion, the nostalgic special is available to watch on HBO Max.
