After a low key 2015 it’s due to be a jet set year for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Following an announcement that the couple will meet the ‘William and Kate of the Himalayas’ in the spring as part of their official tour of India, we take a look at where else they will be travelling to this year…
William and Kate will meet the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, and his glamourous wife Queen Jetsun Pema who are expecting their first child this year. The Duke and Duchess will be setting off for India in the spring leaving behind their two small children Charlotte and George, who will be looked after by their nanny Maria Borrallo. It will be 24 years since William’s parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana visited India on an official Royal tour. This will mark William and Kate’s first ever visit to India and they will be undertaking a number of Royal engagements whilst in the country.
With an array of lavish celebrations lined up to celebrate The Queen’s Offical Birthday Weekend in June, William and Kate will be staying put in
the UK to join in the festivities.
The much talked about Patron’s Lunch, taking place along The Mall in London, will honour The Queen’s dedication to service and her patronage of over 600 charities and organisations. As director of Sports and Entertainment Ltd, Peter Philips, the Queen’s grandson will be organising the not-for-profit event. Tickets will be sold at £150 a pop, with most guests being from organisations to do with the Queen, while 1000 tickets will be released for the public next month. The event will also feature a carnival parade with 900 horses and 1500 performers.
The couple are expected to visit Brazil later in the year as Rio De Janeiro will be playing host to the Olympic Games in 2016. After the sporty Duke and Duchess attended London’s 2012 Olympics, it is very likely that they will be at this year’s games to cheer on our British teams.
William and Kate will be escaping to the sandy beaches of Mustique in the summer to join the Middletons on their annual holiday and celebrate Carol’s birthday. They will be travelling to the secluded Carribean island with their children George and Charlotte, making it their first ever holiday as a family of four.
It has been speculated that the couple may well embark on another official tour in the Autumn, although it is unknown where they will go. Autumn 2016 may even see Kate head off on her first solo tour. The Duchess was due to go to Malta in 2014, but due to pregnancy she was to ill to go and William quickly stepped in to go in her place.
We’re looking forward to some more stylish moments from Kate throughout the year. 2015 saw her step out in an endless selection of gorgeous gowns and ensembles. The Duchess even donned a tiara for a banquet held in honour of the Chinese president. We’re sure that 2016 will be yet another sartorial success for The Duchess.
