With travel still a pipe dream for the time being (though many countries are now exempt from the former 14-day quarantine rule), why not bring a taste of a five-star lifestyle to your own home with these bedroom decor ideas?

A few interiors tweaks will leave you feeling as if you're spending the night in a plush hotel, waking up in the lap of luxury. It's been a tough few months for us all, so why not treat yourself to some home comforts that will make a staycation in your own home a joy.

Luxury hotel expert Catherine Morris, who is also managing director of luxury linen brand, Tielle Love Luxury, provides her top tips on how to escape the reality in your own home by giving your bedroom a luxury makeover.

Set the mood

Firmdale Hotels, the group which boasts venues such as The Soho Hotel and Ham Yard Hotel, has set up an entireonline portalfor bringing a bit of hotel-style luxury to your own home.

"It includes design tips and creative projects, cocktail recipes and even book suggestions from its well-stocked book salon. My personal favourite is theMediterranean G&Trecipe from the cocktail section, a gorgeous treat for the warmer weather with ingredients easily purchased from the local supermarket," Catherine told us.

It starts with the right linen

That fresh-linen feeling is one of the reasons we love hotels so much. Spending a little extra on some high-quality linen and a duvet set can really pay off. John Lewis' ultimate range has been specially crafted to give a real luxury feel.

"The people behindTielle Love Luxuryhave provided guests at the most well-known hotels in the world with a great night’s sleep for over 30 years, thanks to its luxury bed linen, made from the finest quality, ethically sourced yarns. Its luxury fibres and classic, signature white colour ways make for the ultimate hotel-style bedroom in your own home and the perfect night’s sleep," said Catherine.

"Treat yourself to its 200 thread count cool and crisp bed linen set. The smooth, crisp percale linen which makes up the set is cool to the touch, making it perfect for those warm, summer nights. It’s woven from the finest, long staple cotton and is loved by five-star hotels such as The Lanesborough."

If you're happy with your bedding and want to just give what you already have a special added extra, opt for a luxurious finishing touch like a feather bed topper - you'll never look back! Some graphic-print cushions and a knitted throw also give that luxe feel.

Mood lighting is key

And by mood lighting, we mean candle light. Investing in some fragranced candles will transform your room into a zen space, where you feel ready to relax and unwind. When it comes to scented candles, The White Company is king, with so many beautiful scents on offer. But we also love M&S's candle offering, if you want to spend a little less.
