What day are Boxing Day sales and can you still shop in store?
As it says on the lid, the vast majority of Boxing Day sales begin today, on Boxing Day itself - the 26th December. Many often begin at midnight on Boxing Day, giving customers a chance to shop to their heart's content.
Typically, Boxing Day sales happen both in-store and online, but with the uncertainty of the lockdown Tier system, and the turmoil the coronavirus has caused this year, many stores have elected to stay closed this year.
Marks & Spencer has already announced that it will stay closed on Boxing Day this year, as will John Lewis, Waitrose, Aldi, Home Bargains, Pets at Home and Homebase.
These retailers have mainly made the decision to stay closed on the 26th to allow hard-working staff a chance to relax and enjoy more time at home over the festive period.
But this means that online shopping may be your best bet for browsing the Boxing Day sales - and you may well feel happier shopping from the comfort of your home this time around anyway.
And if you do, there's no need to worry, as retailers generally offer up the very same deals and discounts online as they do in store.
How long do the Boxing Day sales last?
For many retailers out there, their Boxing Day sales may only last one or two days, often depending on how much stock they have available to sell. Some others may run their Boxing Day promotions for over a week.
But generally, the further past the 26th you get, the less chance you'll have to bag a great discount, as items are likely to sell out fast and you may miss out on somethign you really want.
It's important to note however that while Boxing Day sales might only last a few days, they'll likely quickly transition into January sales - which often run the whole month. So there should be plenty of chance to enjoy a discount if you want one.
