Dakota Johnson's 'Tree House' is officially up for sale, and each room shows a new way to add midcentury style to your home
With a consistent mid-century theme, her 6 million home is a gold mine for modern yet timeless interior ideas
It's not the first time we've been completely enamoured by Dakota Johnson's home, but now the award-winning actress is bidding her house farewell; what better time to get all the inspiration we can?
With no lack of interior design trends to enjoy, it's hard to stick to just one when designing or redecorating your home. There is one, however, that continues to grow in popularity amongst all demographics and one that continually stands the test of time. And that is the midcentury modern look.
Warm woods, comfortable yet stylish furniture and a boatload of charm are what make this an interior style that works for so many homes. One home in particular, now being sold for 6 million dollars, is Dakota Johnson's LA 'treehouse,' which is simply teeming with interior inspiration to recreate in our homes.

Whether or not you're a fan of the midcentury look, quiet luxury interiors might be more your bag; there's no denying its versatility. Dakota's home is proof of that, as we can see its different variations in each room and how it works with what each space requires rather than against it.
Take her iconic green kitchen, for example, where she famously declared her love for limes. With it being a smaller space, the more industrial, stripped-back look helps keep it from looking cluttered or overwhelming. But you still have that warmth and charm from the rug, the inviting deep green and a few complementary houseplants.
Aside from the kitchen, there's inspiration to be found in the bedroom where textures and patterns are given the spotlight. What we can assume is the master bedroom, featuring a monogrammed bedspread, follows a similar principle to the kitchen. It's a relatively pared-back space but made to feel full with accent colours, bold yet appropriate prints and that signature midcentury wood panelling adorning the walls.
Dakota has clearly stuck to a cohesive style but still managed to add personality to her home throughout. With risque art pieces, more modern accessories like statement vases and a plethora of enticing coffee table books. There isn't a room in the 3,210 sqft house that doesn't fit and reflect her charming yet alluring demeanour.

And whilst it's a somewhat impossible challenge to recreate the whole look, the great thing about midcentury interiors is that they can work in smaller bursts too. Whether that's with an organically shaped coffee table or a warmly lit wooden lamp, you can make it work for your space as well as your budget.
So although we're rather heartbroken we won't be able to bid on the property ourselves, we will be using the space as interior inspiration for many, many years to come.
Midcentury is just one of the home furnishing trends that continues to make a comeback in the modern day. And whilst many of our favourite retailers are tapping into these now-timeless trends, we recommend searching through local antique stores and secondhand shops online for hidden gems too!
