Sainsbury’s are opening a pub - but it might not be what you expect
Worried about the calories in your favourite tipple? Maybe you’re sick of getting hangovers the next day? Thanks to Sainsbury’s, you can enjoy a visit to the pub without the nasty side effects.
The UK’s first no and low alcohol pub is opening in central London over the summer, with every drink in the pub being entirely alcohol-free or having a maximum alcohol by volume (ABV) of just 0.5 per cent.
Sainsbury’s decided to open the pub after noticing a 31.8 per cent increase in sales of no and low alcohol drinks. Anne Cooper, Buyer at Sainbury’s, said “We’re seeing a really exciting spike in the no and low alcohol category at Sainsbury’s which has been growing since 2001.

"With an increasing number of products now available, those who want to hold off on alcoholic beverages don’t need to miss out on the experience of enjoying a beer with friends or even a mocktail made with a delicious non-alcoholic distillate.”
One of these brands is Atopia, the first ultra-low alcohol spirit from family distillers. They contain 0.5 ABV, and will most likely be on offer at the supermarket’s new pub. Customers can choose from two flavours: Spiced Citrus or Wild Blossom.
The pub, brilliantly named ‘The Clean Vic’, will also be hosting a series of master classes, so guests can learn how to make low and no alcohol cocktails to enjoy at home. Perfect if you’re trying to cut down on your alcohol intake.

If you want to sample the pop-up, it’s only around for two days: 24th and 25th July. It’s a great spot for midweek drinking, at least!
