Designer Danielle DiFerdinando has taken the US by storm with a handbag collection rivalling Micheal Kors. She’s become a favourite amongst celebrities like Oprah, Rhianna and Kate Hudson and her designs are coming to the UK this month!
Danielle’s bags are inspired by vibrant cities like Paris and Tokyo but also
embody the minimalist, clean-lined style of Sweden. Her bags are inspired by modern desginers but also timeless vintage styles, and these influences can be seen in her own products which
are easy-to-wear, detailed and indredibly functional.
Danielle’s journey is an incredible one and goes to show that hardwork and creativity can go a long way…
During her first year of studying at Fashion School in New York, Danielle decided to design her own handbags by visiting leather suppliers and creating pieces in her dorm room. Whilst interning at Bergdorf Goodman a cosmetics buyer noticed Danielle’s unique bag while they were waiting in a lift, and asked her to make some for the company. Danielle’s makeup bags were an instant hit and she was soon asked to design handbags for Bergdorf Goodman too!
The first big celebrity to get behind Danielle’s designs was Oprah Winfrey, who chose Danielle out of 200 designers as the winner of a fashion competition. Oprah then proceeded to buy 5,500 tote bags off Danielle, launching her into the mainstream US market.
In 2015 Danielle was named as one of the individuals on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. The accolade further cemented Danielle’s presence in the fashion world with high-profile celebrities such as pop superstar Rhianna and actress Kate Hudson both wearing her designs. Danielle has revealed that her ultimate dream is for the Duchess of Cambridge to wear one of designs in the future!
Danielle’s handbags will be available to buy on QVC this autumn and the channel will also showcase her popular Disney handbag collaboration which is inspired by five Disney Princesses – Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella and Snow White. The Disney X DN collaboration presents characters from the well-known stories and aims to bring out the “inner child” in adults with eye-catching and playful designs. Danielle’s favourite bag in this range is her quirky cross-body bag which features the character of Flounder from The Little Mermaid.
So what’s next for the Danielle Nicole brand? 2017 holds many new adventures for the rising designer including a transitional collection hitting the UK in January and February – consisting of satchels and totes for everyday, comfortable and lightweight wear. She’s also got a beautiful selection of jewellery too, with pretty floral designs and semi-precious stones that match her handbags with their geometric style.
So where can you buy these sought-after handbags? After the successful launch in the US, Danielle’s collection will be coming to the UK in November and wil be available to buy on QVC.
